- Reading
Growth:
During the beginning of the year, I had trouble describing specific actions and words. Because of that, my reading level was only T, U, V. After my second reading test, I leveled up to W. Some of my new strengths are reading out loud without stumbling upon words (sometimes), reading different types of books, and knowing which book is good for me. At the beginning of the year, when I read I slurred, read only Realistic Fiction books, and didn't care about how hard or easy the book was.
Evidence:
Next Steps:
Next, I'm going to try to get to a higher reading level, like X or Y. To do this, I'm going to start studying more vocabulary words, and I'll try to understand the books more--understanding, such as; making more sense out of it, predicting what happened in the past, wondering what the main character's traits are.
- Writing
Growth:
During the beginning of the year, I could not write without stopping. When I had to write ideas, I could barely get two on my paper. Now, at the end of the year, I can write two pages in my Writer's Notebook in less than thirty minutes. In addition, I have great writing ideas to use, and I'm constantly writing stories in my notebook.
Evidence:
Next Steps:
Next, I have set myself a writing goal to start drafting on loose-leaf paper, and try to focus on what I'm writing. To do this, I'm going to try to sit away from my friends, and ignore anyone if they're talking to me.
- Math
Growth:
During the beginning of the year, I always had trouble doing my problem set, and usually couldn't get past a single problem. Now, I seek for help when I'm stuck, and sometimes when I explain when I'm doing something, I begin to understand it, too.
Evidence:
Next Steps:
At the beginning of the year, I had trouble re-reading questions during tests. Now, when I re-read questions, I understand the concept of the problem and begin to come up with a solution.
- Science
Growth:
Our first science lesson, I didn't write more than a paragraph for my observations. When I predicted things, I didn't say why I did, or what gave me the idea. When I read through my science notebook, later on, I realized I started to take more notes and that I was beginning to jot about what I was doing.
Evidence:
Next Steps:
Next, I set a goal to start writing why I predicted something. I'm going to try to write at least a paragraph--or a few sentences, on what gave me that idea, or why I thought of it.
- Social Studies
Growth:
During the beginning of Social Studies,
